Dear members,
It is that time of year again when I email you to tell you how Cancer Support France Haute-Vienne has got on in 2019.
We have had a very busy and full year. We have rejoined CSF National which has proved to be a very good and useful move. We have consequently become very involved with various projects and been able to take advantage of some of the training with other associations. In fact we have trained three new Active Listeners, who we actually are quite desperate for – two of whom are waiting for their third days training but sadly the third new AL has been diagnosed with cancer and so will be travelling on her own journey with our support.
We have had a number of fund raising events throughout the year and a huge thank you to the people involved. We have also received some very generous and unexpected donations including a mobility scooter which we have to sell, so if you know anyone who could do with one, please let us know.
At the beginning of November our two trainers went to Toulouse for the Trainers’ Training two day event and conference. They did very well and are now looking forward to their third day which we are hoping will take place in February in our commune.
We lost our Helpline number in September and have now joined the CSF National helpline number which is 0800 240 200, so if you have any old cards or publicity with the old helpline number on them, please could you recycle them.
With 2020 looming we are going to run another photographic competition with etcetera magazine for a calendar for 2021 which will be our 10th anniversary. So please look our for details of the competition in the January edition.
We are also looking forward to our AGM which will be on Wednesday 4 March at 2.30 pm at the Salle des Fetes in Videix. Our guest speakers will be Matt Bradley, a psychotherapist, and (possibly) Dr Cornelia Wilson if she has time to update us on her very exciting research. So we hope to welcome as many of you as can manage that date.
We are also involved in helping to organise CSF National’s AGM in Limoges next year. More information to follow.
As always I thank you all for your support for our association and I know the people who we help are very grateful to you as well.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year and hope that when you receive your renewal request from our Treasurer, Karen, you will continue to support us into next year.
With all good wishes
Sue
